GARDENS AND GROUNDS: Having been included twice in Garden Week tours, the Landscape Designer/Owner provided the following description of the gardens: The gardens at Wrenwood were begun about 40 years ago. Many of the trees were planted first so they could become well established and provide a "framework" for the rest of the gardens. Planted are native trees, but also many unusual specimens that we saw at places like Longwood Gardens, Winterthur, Biltmore Estate, and at Arboretums around the east. Longwood influenced us greatly as we are in about the same climate zone as they.

Even in winter the native Beech maintain apricot colored leaves, native Dogwoods have red berries to feed the birds, Boxwood provide dark green structure, the Sweet Bay and Southern Magnolia hold their large shiny leaves, and the Conifers provide varying shades of blue, green and chartreuse.
